Ann was born on 22 Dec 1853 in, Ikeston, Derbyshire to James THOMASIN (TOMASIN) and Mary LEAVERS. On Wednesday 19 August 1863, the Derby Mercury reported that John NOON, a 63 year old boot and shoe maker, had been found guilty of indecently assulting Ann in his house at Ikeston on 20 July 1863. After the court had been cleared of females, NOON pleaded 'not guilty' to the charge. The Magistrate then heard evidence from Ann and a witness - Hanna Straw - before finding him guilty. NOON was fined £5 or in default two months hard labour - He was locked up. tjt - 18 December 2011
