Henry Alfred was born on the 20 March 1818 at Carisbrook, Isle of Wight. His father, Joseph VINCENT, was a carpenter.

He married Francis 'Fanny' MOODY at St Mildred's, Whippingham, Cowes, Isle of Wight on 12 November 1841. They had ten children between 1842 and 1860.

In 1851 they were living at 23 Barton Village and in 1861 at Bell Croft Cottages, Whippingham. However by the time of his daughter Ann's marriage in 1871, they had moved to Ryde and were living in Nelson Street.

From the time of his daughter Ann Rebecca's birth in 1843 until the census of 1861, his recorded employment was as a lace maker. But the move to Ryde saw a change of employment to gardener.

By  the 1881 census they had moved home once again, to Cuthbert Cottages back at Staplers near Newport, and Henry was working as a General labourer.

Henry Alfred died on 18 November 1881 at Staplers, Isle of Wight of Apoplexy.
