Alum Bay - Isle of Wight

Constructed - replacing an earlier wooden structure of 1869, it was opened in 1887 Length - 370 feet Engineer in charge - Contractor - Mr I Saunders Notes - The pier was declared unsafe in 1925 and closed to the public. It was slowly reclaimed by the sea - the last iron post remained visible until the 1970's. |
