Cowes - Isle of Wight Victoria Pier

Constructed - between 1901 and 1902 Length - originally 170 feet Engineer in charge - RE Cooper Contractor - A Thorne Notes - The last pier constructed at Cowes. It was partially destroyed by fire after World War II and dismantled in 1961. The first was the Fountain Pier, a wooden structure built in 1841 and removed in about 1892. The second was the Royal Pier, 250 feet long and called Kernott's Pier by locals, built in 1866 and destroyed in storm in 1876. |
